Dual workspace editing
Pictorx adapts to the way you create. Stay in Document mode for pixel-perfect layouts, fixed artboard pages, and export-ready designs—or flip to Whiteboard mode when you need room to explore, sketch, and arrange ideas on a dot-grid canvas. Switch anytime from View; layers and tools stay intact.
Document mode
Document mode is Pictorx at its most precise: a familiar page-based canvas where every layer stays within your artboard, multi-page projects stack cleanly, and what you see is what you export. It is the default workspace—ideal for retouching, social templates, charts, and print-sized documents.
Whiteboard mode
Turn on Whiteboard mode when fixed pages feel too tight. Spread layers across an open dot-grid surface—perfect for mood boards, wireframes, meeting notes, and exploratory design before you commit to a final layout. Enable from View → Whiteboard; toggle it off anytime to return to Document mode.
Zoom, grids & rulers
Inspect and place artwork with precise view controls. Zoom from a broad overview all the way to 10,000% for pixel-level work, then enable View → Grid, View → Pixel grid, View → Rulers, and snap-to-grid helpers when alignment matters.
Time-travel editing
Experiment fearlessly—every brushstroke, filter, and layer change is recorded. Step backward with Edit → Undo (Ctrl+Z) or forward with Edit → Redo (Ctrl+Y), then open the History panel to browse a visual timeline of your session and jump straight to any earlier state. Perfect for comparing versions, recovering from mistakes, and exploring bold ideas without losing your place.
Zen canvas mode
Block out distractions and edit in pure focus. Toggle View → Screen mode (F11) to hide panels and expand the canvas edge-to-edge—perfect for long retouching sessions, client previews, and presentation walkthroughs. Press F11 again to bring your tools back instantly.
Multiple pages
Build multi-page documents in Document mode—ideal for presentations, brochures, and multi-screen layouts. Switch pages from the strip above the canvas. From the document pages menu, add pages, duplicate the current page, and reorder with Move page up or Move page down. Copy a layer on one page with Edit → Copy (Ctrl+C), switch to another page, and paste with Edit → Paste as new layer (Ctrl+V). Shapes, text, styles, and effects come along intact.
Offline background removal

Photo library
Search and open millions of free stock photos from Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay without leaving the editor. Open the photo library from File → Open → Open stock photo, enter a keyword, and filter by image type or source library. Open a photo as a new document or add it as a layer to your current project. From the layer context menu, replace an existing image with a fresh stock pick.
Paint & draw tools
Paint, erase, and refine pixels directly on raster layers. Open Tools → Draw for freehand Line and Polygon drawing, then switch to specialized tools: Paint Bucket fills connected areas with adjustable tolerance and flood mode; Eraser clears pixels with a resizable brush; Magic Eraser removes matching colors as you brush; Smudge blends neighboring pixels; and Clone Stamp copies texture from a sampled point. Adjust brush size, fill color, tolerance, and flood mode from the side panel as you work.
Living charts & data
Tell stories with numbers—not spreadsheets. Insert column, bar, line, pie, radar, heatmap, treemap, gauge, Venn, and more from CHARTS MENU. Edit values in the built-in data grid, paste CSV from Excel or Google Sheets, and watch the chart rebuild live. Selection superpowers
Isolate exactly what you need—nothing more, nothing less. Draw rectangular and elliptical marquees, freehand lasso paths, or let Select → Wand and Select → SELECT QUICK SELECTION chase similar pixels for you. Feather edges, grow or shrink selections, invert them, and crop with Tools → Crop or Select → Crop and Insert as New Layer. From sky replacements to sticker cutouts, precision starts with the right selection.
Liquid lens playground
Bend reality with distortion filters from Effects → Distort. Send ripples across a logo, twist perspective with Effects → Distort → Timewarp, or frost a layer with Effects → Distort → Glass and Effects → Distort → Refracted Glass. Stack effects on separate layers, blend with opacity, and build surreal composites that feel alive.
Electric dream filters
Give photos a cinematic glow-up from Effects → Color. Pulse neon edges with Effects → Color → Neon Glow, map data-like heat with Effects → Color → Heatmap, or lock in a two-tone mood with Effects → Color → Duotone. Layer filters, dial opacity, and turn ordinary shots into poster-ready electric dreams.
Pattern filters
Generate procedural backgrounds and textures from Effects → Patterns. Choose from stripes, squares, dots, honeycomb, grid, rays, zigzag, geometric layouts, retro fifties tiles, and procedurally generated mazes. Tune cell counts, multi-color palettes, angles, and style presets; preserve transparency to blend patterns over photos. Ideal for wallpapers, social backgrounds, and retro design.
Paths, points & curves
Reshape shape and line paths at the anchor level. Show path points on any shape or line layer, drag anchors to adjust geometry, add or delete points, and convert segments between straight points, quadratic curves, and cubic Bézier curves from the path segment menu. Bézier and quadratic control points mirror for smooth curves—hold Alt while dragging to break the tangent and form a corner. Snap anchors to grid, edges, layers, and other path points from the Path Point panel. For tangent-handle tips, open Curve editing help in the path segment menu.
Layers & Blend Modes
Stack images, text, and shapes with full layer support. Create groups and subgroups, add layers to groups or remove them. Duplicate, merge, and organize your design.
Copy and paste layer styles
Copy the visual style from a shape, line, or text layer and paste it onto another layer of the same type. Fill, stroke, typography, shadows, and effects transfer—geometry and text content stay put. Use the layer context menu or Layers → Copy Layer Style / Layers → Paste Layer Style.
Copy layers between images
Reuse content from one project in another. Select a layer, choose Edit → Copy (Ctrl+C), switch to the target image, then Edit → Paste as new layer (Ctrl+V). Shapes, text, lines, raster pixels, styles, and effects come along intact. To copy more than one layer, group them first (Layers → Group → New Group), select the group, copy it, and paste it into the other image.
Non-destructive adjustments
Grade color like a pro without baking pixels. Add adjustment layers from Adjust—brightness and contrast, hue and saturation, levels, curves, vibrance, color balance, and more—and tweak them anytime. Stack multiple corrections, change blend modes, and dial opacity up or down. Turn an adjustment off to compare before and after, or delete it cleanly when you are done.
Reveal and conceal masks
Hide and reveal parts of your design without deleting a single pixel. Add a mask layer after AI → Remove background, paint transparency with the eraser, or generate a radial vignette from Effects → Render → Radial Mask. Combine masks with blend modes and opacity to craft spotlights, soft fades, and before-and-after reveals.
