Unique Features
Dual workspace editing
Pictorx adapts to the way you create. Stay in Document mode for pixel-perfect layouts, fixed artboard pages, and export-ready designs—or flip to Whiteboard mode when you need room to explore, sketch, and arrange ideas on a dot-grid canvas. Switch anytime from View; layers and tools stay intact.
Document mode
Document mode is Pictorx at its most precise: a familiar page-based canvas where every layer stays within your artboard, multi-page projects stack cleanly, and what you see is what you export. It is the default workspace—ideal for retouching, social templates, charts, and print-sized documents.
Whiteboard mode
Turn on Whiteboard mode when fixed pages feel too tight. Spread layers across an open dot-grid surface—perfect for mood boards, wireframes, meeting notes, and exploratory design before you commit to a final layout. Enable from View → Whiteboard; toggle it off anytime to return to Document mode.
Zoom, grids & rulers
Inspect and place artwork with precise view controls. Zoom from a broad overview all the way to 10,000% for pixel-level work, then enable View → Grid, View → Pixel grid, View → Rulers, and snap-to-grid helpers when alignment matters.
Time-travel editing
Experiment fearlessly—every brushstroke, filter, and layer change is recorded. Step backward with Edit → Undo (Ctrl+Z) or forward with Edit → Redo (Ctrl+Y), then open the History panel to browse a visual timeline of your session and jump straight to any earlier state. Perfect for comparing versions, recovering from mistakes, and exploring bold ideas without losing your place.
Zen canvas mode
Block out distractions and edit in pure focus. Toggle View → Screen mode (F11) to hide panels and expand the canvas edge-to-edge—perfect for long retouching sessions, client previews, and presentation walkthroughs. Press F11 again to bring your tools back instantly.
Multiple pages
Build multi-page documents in Document mode—ideal for presentations, brochures, and multi-screen layouts. Switch pages from the strip above the canvas. From the document pages menu, add pages, duplicate the current page, and reorder with Move page up or Move page down. Copy a layer on one page with Edit → Copy (Ctrl+C), switch to another page, and paste with Edit → Paste as new layer (Ctrl+V). Shapes, text, styles, and effects come along intact.
Offline background removal
Cut out people, products, and logos in seconds—without sending images to the cloud. Pictorx downloads a compact AI model once, then removes the background in your browser. Photos never leave your device. Optionally trim the result or add a mask layer. Ideal for portraits, e-commerce, and social.
Selective color spotlight
Turn everyday photos into cinematic moments. AI → Color splash keeps one hue vivid while the rest fades to monochrome—ideal for dramatic portraits and product hero shots. AI → Copy object lets you click to copy any object with SAM, and AI → Cut out adds stylized cutout edges for clean composites. All processing runs on your device; nothing is uploaded.
Scene swap AI
Replace any photo's setting without uploading a single pixel. AI → Replace background drops in new skies, studio backdrops, or gradient scenes behind your subject—all processed on your device. Cut out the subject first with AI → Remove background, then swap worlds in seconds. Ideal for travel portraits, product hero shots, and social thumbnails.
AI object removal
Erase distractions without leaving holes. AI → Remove object (also Image → Fill → Content-Aware Fill) uses on-device LaMa AI to reconstruct the background after you select or brush the area to remove. Nothing is uploaded. Ideal for cleaning tourist photos, product shots, and social posts.
AI photo repair
Restore old photos without leaving patches. AI → Repair image lets you brush over scratches, creases, or dust; on-device LaMa AI blends them seamlessly. Nothing is uploaded. Ideal for family archives, scanned prints, and vintage portraits.
AI uncrop / outpaint
Grow a tight crop into a wider frame. AI → Uncrop image pads Left/Right/Top/Bottom (or a target aspect ratio), then on-device LaMa AI synthesizes skies, walls, and floors in the new borders. Nothing leaves your device. Ideal for reframing social posts, banners, and print layouts.
AI copy object
Lift any subject onto its own layer with a single click. AI → Copy object uses on-device SAM to mask the object you click, then places a clean cutout on a new layer—optionally removing it from the original. Nothing is uploaded. Ideal for product composites, collages, and layered designs.
Batch remove background
Clear backgrounds from a whole folder in one pass. AI → Batch Remove background reads images from a source folder, removes each background with on-device AI, and writes transparent PNGs to a destination folder—with live progress you can stop anytime. Photos stay on your device. Ideal for product catalogs, headshots, and bulk social assets.
AI magic layers
Turn a flat image into an editable layer stack in one step. AI → AI MAGIC LAYERS finds distinct subjects with on-device SAM and places each clean cutout on its own layer while keeping the original image intact. Nothing is uploaded. Ideal for collages, product compositions, and fast image cleanup.
Rich Filters
Blur, sharpen, color adjustments, distort, artistic effects, and pixelate — dozens of filters at your fingertips.
Text & Typography
Rich text styling with fonts, fills, gradients, strokes, shadows, 3D effects, contours, and decoration. Bend, skew, or taper lettering, add circular text and backgrounds, and craft standout headlines.
Shapes & Vectors
Add geometric shapes and styled lines to your canvas. Customize fills, strokes, shadows, and 3D effects, and draw connectors with arrow markers.
Import Website Images
Fetch images from a public website, create a new image automatically, and place the results as layered raster and SVG content.
Design templates
Jump-start any project with hundreds of ready-made layouts: artistic compositions, text and poem designs, tables, charts, infographics, illustrations, presentation slides, and more. Open a template, customize every layer, and publish in minutes.
Save as SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics)
Export your design as a clean SVG file from File → Save → Save as SVG. Shapes, lines, text, and vector components are converted on the server and saved to your device—ideal for logos, icons, and web graphics that need to scale without losing quality.
Photo library
Search and open millions of free stock photos from Pexels, Unsplash, and Pixabay without leaving the editor. Open the photo library from File → Open → Open stock photo, enter a keyword, and filter by image type or source library. Open a photo as a new document or add it as a layer to your current project. From the layer context menu, replace an existing image with a fresh stock pick.
Paint & draw tools
Paint, erase, and refine pixels directly on raster layers. Open Tools → Draw for a tile overview of drawing tools. Choose Line or Polygon for freehand drawing, or specialized tools: Airbrush sprays soft color with adjustable size and hardness; Paint Bucket fills connected areas with adjustable tolerance and flood mode; Eraser clears pixels with a resizable brush; Magic Eraser removes matching colors as you brush; Smudge blends neighboring pixels; Clone Stamp copies texture from a sampled point; Corner Pin warps the image by dragging its four corners; and Mesh Warp distorts the image by dragging the white squares at the mesh intersections. Adjust brush size, fill color, tolerance, and flood mode from the side panel as you work.
Living charts & data
Tell stories with numbers—not spreadsheets. Insert column, bar, line, pie, radar, heatmap, treemap, gauge, Venn, and more from CHARTS MENU. Edit values in the built-in data grid, paste CSV from Excel or Google Sheets, and watch the chart rebuild live. Style colors, labels, and legends to match your brand, then embed charts directly in presentations and infographics.
Selection superpowers
Isolate exactly what you need—nothing more, nothing less. Draw rectangular and elliptical marquees, freehand lasso paths, or let Select → Wand and Select → SELECT QUICK SELECTION chase similar pixels for you. Feather edges, grow or shrink selections, invert them, and crop with Tools → Crop or Select → Crop and Insert as New Layer. From sky replacements to sticker cutouts, precision starts with the right selection.
Liquid lens playground
Bend reality with distortion filters from Effects → Distort. Send ripples across a logo, twist perspective with Effects → Distort → Timewarp, or frost a layer with Effects → Distort → Glass and Effects → Distort → Refracted Glass. Stack effects on separate layers, blend with opacity, and build surreal composites that feel alive.
Electric dream filters
Give photos a cinematic glow-up from Effects → Color. Pulse neon edges with Effects → Color → Neon Glow, map data-like heat with Effects → Color → Heatmap, or lock in a two-tone mood with Effects → Color → Duotone. Layer filters, dial opacity, and turn ordinary shots into poster-ready electric dreams.
Step-by-step presentation wizard
Build a polished slide deck in minutes—not hours. Launch the step-by-step wizard from File → Create Presentation to set your title, slide size, and presenter details. Choose how many pages you need and shape the outline with title, content, chart, table, and photo slides. Style header and body areas with theme colors, gradients, fonts, and typography, then stamp your brand across every page. Review the summary and generate a multi-page document that opens in the editor—ready for charts, photos, and final tweaks.
Pictograms
Drop expressive pictograms onto any design in seconds. Open Tools → Pictograms to browse thousands of symbols by category—emoticons, animals, food, travel, and more—or search by name. Switch between color and monochrome fonts, then click a tile to place it as an editable text layer you can resize, restyle, and layer like any other element. Ideal for icons, accents, stickers, and infographic callouts.
Pattern filters
Generate procedural backgrounds and textures from Effects → Patterns. Choose from stripes, squares, dots, honeycomb, grid, rays, zigzag, geometric layouts, retro fifties tiles, and procedurally generated mazes. Tune cell counts, multi-color palettes, angles, and style presets; preserve transparency to blend patterns over photos. Ideal for wallpapers, social backgrounds, and retro design.
Tilt-Shift
Create a miniature look with Effects → Blur and Sharpen → Tilt-Shift. Tilt-Shift is a creative technique whereby a photograph of a life-size location or object is manipulated to give an optical illusion of a photograph of a miniature scale model. Altering the focus of the photography simulates the shallow depth of field normally encountered with macro lenses making the scene seem much smaller than it actually is. In addition to focus manipulation, the Tilt-Shift effect is improved by increasing color saturation and contrast, to simulate the bright paint often found on scale models. Most faked Tilt-Shift photographs are taken from a high angle to further simulate the effect of looking down on a miniature. The technique is particularly effective on buildings, cars, trains and people.
Candy Pop
Turn photos into bubblegum poster tiles with Effects → Pop Art → Candy Pop. Candy Pop posterizes your image into a grid of pastel duo-tone panels—light candy highlights against bold accent colors. Dial horizontal and vertical tiles, color levels, and pastel mix, then tweak the multi-color palette for custom candy-shop combinations. Keep image size on to fit the canvas, or expand into a tiled collage. Ideal for portraits, products, and social graphics that need a sweet, high-impact pop-art look.
Typographic effects
Turn photos into letter-built art from Effects → Text. Pack custom words into a silhouette with Effects → Text → Grammy Art, fill a portrait in type with Effects → Text → Typographic Portrait, or scatter business buzzwords with Effects → Text → Business WordArt. Render luminance as a character mosaic with Effects → Text → Character Mosaic, or stack repeated lines into a poster with Effects → Text → Typo Effect. Tune spacing, size, fonts, colors, and word lists to craft posters, album covers, and social graphics.
Paths, points & curves
Reshape shape and line paths at the anchor level. Show path points on any shape or line layer, drag anchors to adjust geometry, add or delete points, and convert segments between straight points, quadratic curves, and cubic Bézier curves from the path segment menu. Bézier and quadratic control points move independently by default for sharp corners—hold Alt while dragging to mirror the tangent and keep curves smooth. Snap anchors to grid, edges, layers, and other path points from the Path Point panel. For tangent-handle tips, open Curve editing help in the path segment menu.
Layers & Blend Modes
Stack images, text, and shapes with full layer support. Create groups and subgroups, add layers to groups or remove them. Duplicate, merge, and organize your design.
Copy and paste layer styles
Copy the visual style from a shape, line, or text layer and paste it onto another layer of the same type. Fill, stroke, typography, shadows, and effects transfer—geometry and text content stay put. Use the layer context menu or Layers → Copy Layer Style / Layers → Paste Layer Style.
Copy layers between images
Reuse content from one project in another. Select a layer, choose Edit → Copy (Ctrl+C), switch to the target image, then Edit → Paste as new layer (Ctrl+V). Shapes, text, lines, raster pixels, styles, and effects come along intact. To copy more than one layer, group them first (Layers → Group → New Group), select the group, copy it, and paste it into the other image.
Non-destructive adjustments
Grade color like a pro without baking pixels. Add adjustment layers from Adjust—brightness and contrast, hue and saturation, levels, curves, vibrance, color balance, and more—and tweak them anytime. Stack multiple corrections, change blend modes, and dial opacity up or down. Turn an adjustment off to compare before and after, or delete it cleanly when you are done.
Reveal and conceal masks
Hide and reveal parts of your design without deleting a single pixel. Add a mask layer after AI → Remove background, paint transparency with the eraser, or generate a radial vignette from Effects → Render → Radial Mask. Combine masks with blend modes and opacity to craft spotlights, soft fades, and before-and-after reveals.
